When I draw with my kids, we use what’s at hand. This means there’s a lot of crayon and marker on bits of cardboard cut from food packages and shipping boxes. Once, I drew a couple of dancing cats and my daughter looked over at them and declared, “Dad, that’s the best drawing I ever saw!” This, of course, meant that I kept drawing more and more dancing cats in the hopes of inspiring similar words of admiration. The end result is a cardboard mural that sits on her bedroom wall just above her doll house.

See? Frogs and cats at an autumn dance.

My son’s favorite part is the frog that’s crooning into the cattail microphone.

Cheers.
